Really short post here, mostly to plug the conversation T.C. Burr and I engaged in on the Yet Podcast:
One of my favorite things is chatting about the writing process with other authors. Everyone has tools and tricks they’ve discovered, and hearing about them is amazing. I never know when someone will point me in a new direction that will change everything about where I’m at in my writing journey.
At a writing conference this week, I talked to another author, and he remarked on how the other attendees were so helpful and friendly. My replay? “We’re all squirrels just trying to show each other where the nuts are buried.” It might not be the most profound or desirable metaphor, but it works. And we authors do tend to be a little nuts.
This is why I wanted to appear on T.C.’s podcast: to share the resources I’ve found along the journey. I admire how T.C. uses the podcast to explore how other authors motivate themselves to start. What sparks others to put pen to paper for the first time or to keep going to accomplish their goals? Not getting going keeps many of us from achieving our goals, and often, we may think we’re struggling alone. But many others in the writer tranches are pursuing their goals along with us. So don’t be afraid to reach out or share your experience. You never know how your journey will help someone else.
If you’re out there and want to chat, I’m always looking to have conversations. So feel free to reach out whenever.
Anyway, being on this podcast was a great experience, and if nothing else, I hope it helps lead someone else to a resource, idea, or tool that will help them along their journey.
Cheers and stay well, my friends.
